Our first week update
Our doors (and windows) have been wide open for a week now so we wanted to get in touch and let you know how it has been.
I would like to say welcome back to our members who have paid us a visit and a big thank you for abiding by all the new rules and adapting to the various policies we now have in place.
The main question that has been asked over the last week is “how many people are allowed in the gym at once?” The offical answer to this question based on government guidlines for the square footage of Genesis is 32, however in pre-lockdown before COVID19 took its grip Genesis would never reach this number even with a full Spin class of 14 people. With this information in mind we feel that a safe and acceptable Genesis capacity would be 20 people including class attendees.
With the new track and trace sign-in system at the gym we can easily keep tabs on the hour by hour gym usage. If we see the numbers creep up towards 20 we will post an update on our social media platforms to let you know the gym is experiencing a busy period. Since opening on the 25th July our maxium visitors at any one time has been 5 but averaging around 3 people per hour.
Weather permitting all of our Personal Training sessions have and will be conducted outside, meaning more free space and equipment in the gym for free-for-all users.
Generally speaking the gym at Genesis follows a very similar pattern on a daily basis in terms of peak and off-peak times. During the summer months when there is no school, the gym remains very quiet throughout the day with an average hourly use of 3 people.
When school term starts again we tend to see 8am-11am busy with an average of 10-12 people per hour, then between 11am-4pm the gym goes quiet with an average of 3-8 people per hour before it picks up again 4pm-7pm with an average of 12-15 people per hour.
With our fitness class timetable reduced in size and capacity we think we have created a balance to allow both gym members and class users to make the most of the space we have whilst remaining safe for everyone.
We know that we need to be adaptable and our policies and new systems will be assesed on a regualr basis. Tightened if neccessary or relaxed alongside government guidlines if possible.
If you have visited the gym in our first week back and have any comments to make please do not hesitate to get in touch. Similarly if you enjoyed your visit and felt safe whilst exercising please leave us some feedback on our Facebook page.
Thank you for your continued support.
Stay Safe, Stay Active.
